Background
Research in resilience has evolved slowly over time. The research done on resilience over the last five decades lacks cultural sensitivity as well as how the community impacts the process of resilience. There is a need for qualitative studies to investigate the factors associated with resilience in non-western communities and marginalized groups living in western settings.
Aims
This study aims to develop a model of resilience for the Indian subcontinent along with a measure of resilience.
Method
First, a systematic literature review was conducted to synthesise the information (Vyas & Vyas, 2021). A pool of 106 questions based on that model was then devised and data was collected.
Results
The results showed that resilience remains an amorphous concept that is affected by both individual and social influences. After running a factor analysis, five factors were established to be linked to resilience in the Indian context.
Conclusion
Work is being continued to understand the functional and transactional processes of resilience.
