Since the first Master of Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) program was launched in 2005 at the University of Pennsylvania, a number of MAPP programs have been started around the world—some quite recently. The structure of these programs varies, but they have as their core emphasis a deep introduction to positive psychology research and a careful preparation for professional practice in the field. This session, conceived as a discussion hour, will bring together directors from a number of MAPP programs to discuss with members of the audience the nature and importance of these programs, the valuable role they play in the field of positive psychology, and especially their most important directions for development and growth in the future in light of changes in the field (e.g., results of new research) and changes in the world (e.g., artificial intelligence, climate change).
Speakers:
Each scientist and practitioner will take 5 minutes to share their latest, hot-off-the-press findings and/or practices. You’ll learn about numerous scientific discoveries and applications, across a range of contexts. This popular session is not to be missed! Hear from Drs. Tayyab Rashid, Lea Waters, Holli-Anne Passmore, Dan Tomasulo, and many more in this tightly-packed experience. Dr. Ryan Niemiec will chair the event.

Calming our nervous system is absolutely essential in the modern world.
Qi Gong is an ancient and highly effective way to do this each day.
For close to five thousand years, Qi Gong has been a foundational pillar of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Qi means energy or life force. Gong means steady practice or cultivation. Qi Gong is an embodied way of being.
As much as possible, we want to align ourselves with the pace of nature in order to stay in homeostasis.
Qi Gong is a series of slow, intentional standing forms derived from observing, and being one with nature.
Done in a standing position, it connects mind, body and breath in deliberate, differentiated movement.
Qi Gong is highly accessible to all people of all ages and abilities.
Lisa Barker is an accredited Qi Gong Instructor and Positive Psychology Practitioner based in Melbourne Australia.
