MacKenzie Trupp
MacKenzie Trupp is a doctoral candidate at the University of Vienna in the Cognitive, Behavioural, and Neuroscience Doctoral School. Previously, she was among the first cohort of the MSc of Psychology of the Arts, Neuroaesthetics, and Creativity at Goldsmiths, University of London. Now, as part of the ART*IS Lab funded by a Horizon Europe 2020 project, she focuses on examining the role of the arts in supporting health and well-being. Throughout her Ph.D., MacKenzie has provided data that art viewing can improve anxiety and negative mood in the museum and online, during the pandemic. Her work has primarily identified and empirically tested essential characteristics of art-viewing interventions that have provided applicable evidence for researchers and practitioners. In 2022, she was the principal investigator of an American Psychological Association Division 10 Microgrant to co-design and evaluate art interventions with leading scientists, philosophers, neuroaesthetics company Kinda Studios, and the National Gallery, London. Most recently, MacKenzie was honored to receive the Impact Award funded by the City of Vienna Cultural Affairs, recognizing her scientific work as having high potential and added value for society. Outside of her research work, MacKenzie strives to apply her knowledge as a science advisor for kunsttell, an art-based mindfulness app start-up.
