Sucharita Belavadi

Sucharita Belavadi is an Assistant Professor at the Jindal Institute of Behavioral Sciences at OP Jindal Global University in Delhi, India (https://jibs.edu.in/dr-sucharita-belavadi/). Sucharita's research is broadly focused on group processes and intergroup relations using the framework of social identity theory. Her research examines the ways in which the quest for an understanding of the self drives belonging in different types of groups and frames social identity. Her work primarily examines the ways in which intergroup communication, or the communication that flows within and between groups, shapes social identities and a common worldview for individuals who share a group membership. She applies these questions to understand identification in religious, national and ideological, and language groups. The ways in which attending to intergroup communication helps individuals manage self-uncertainty and choose specific leaders is also of specific interest.
